Camping at Caprock was interesting. The camp area was nice. The problem was buffalo everywhere! They tell you to stay 50 yards away from them, they forgot to tell the buffalo. They wonder into camp they pop out of brush.
Two different ones got snotty and forced us to hit the brush or otherwise avoid them. Not fun!
Most of the hiking trails were long and one way long being 5 + miles. Early one morning I did do one. Dh dropped me off at one end drove to the other and walked to meet me.
We decided to go for a drive since it was hot and the buffalo were a pain.
It was a beautiful drive around the back two sides of the state park. Saw a huge cool frog. This picture was taken from the truck. I saw the frog and we backed up to photograph.
Think small dinner plate. The road went on forever it seemed. But was very different and beautiful
See the road got up the hill in the distance?
We decided to leave a day early and head to our next stop Sugarite Canyon State Park in New Mexico.
